Orewa Beach · Est. 2014
Slow morningsby the sea.
Breakfast, brunch and lunch in a little white cottage, wrapped in gardens, one barefoot walk from the sand.
The cottage
A hundred-year-old cottage, a garden that feeds the kitchen
Drift sits in the old gardener's cottage above the northern end of Orewa Beach. White weatherboards, wide verandas, and tables scattered under the pōhutukawa. Inside it's bright and quiet; outside you can hear the surf.
We open at seven for the swimmers and the dog-walkers, and keep going through brunch into a long, unhurried lunch. Come as you are — sandy feet entirely acceptable.

Our philosophy
Local, eco-friendly, sustainable — not as a slogan, as a supply chain.
Local
Growers, bakers and roasters from the Hibiscus Coast and Matakana. Most of what lands on your plate travels less than an hour.
Eco-friendly
Compostable everything, no single-use plastic, rainwater on the garden and solar on the roof of the old cottage.
Sustainable
Whole-vegetable cooking, scraps to the compost, compost to the beds, beds back to the kitchen. Nothing wasted.

On the table
Breakfast, brunch and lunch — all day, all seasonal
Eggs from up the road, bread baked each morning, greens picked out the back. The menu shifts with what the garden and the coast are giving.
